Materials

1.      1 color chart

2.      3 clear plastic cups

3.      3 strips of ph paper

4.      3 copper pennies

5.      3 rubber bands

6.      White vinegar

7.      Lemon juice

8.      Distilled water

9.      Plastic wrap

 

Steps

            First, you label the three cups lemon juice, distilled water, and vinegar. Second, use the pH strips and color chart to find the pH of the three liquids; record in a journal.

Next, place a penny in each cup, and pour in just enough vinegar to cover the penny in one cup, do the same for the next two pennies. Cover each cup with the plastic wrap and secure each with a rubber band. Then, record what happens in the three cups for the next seven days. Lastly, when the experiment is over clean the three pennies, and pour the liquids out. Throw away the plastic wrap and rubber bands.
