Experiment

For my experiment I first took a basic muffin recipe for twelve muffins and cut it in half so it would make six muffins.

        Reduced Muffin Recipe

        1 c. Flour

        1 ½ tsp. Baking Powder (3/8 tsp. Baking Soda)

        ¼ tsp. Salt

        1 tbsp. Sugar

        1 ½ tbsp. Shortening

        ½ Egg

        ½ c. Milk

        (For Lemon and Cream of Tartar use 1 tsp)

        (For Molasses use 6 tbsp and 2 tbsp Milk)

Next I labeled the muffins I was making.

        #1 Baking Powder – Pink (high)

        #2 Baking Soda – Yellow

        #3 Baking Soda and Cream of Tartar – Halloween

        #4 Baking Soda and Lemon – Christmas

        #5 Baking Soda and Molasses – Blue

        #6 Baking Soda and Sour Milk – Pink (low)

Then I mixed the dry and the liquid ingredients together.

After that I put the mixture in to muffin cups and baked them for 16 minutes

Lastly I had 4 people (not including me) taste and rate the muffins according to the following

*        Taste

*        Appearance

*        Sweetness

*        Tartness

*        Favorite

*        Least Favorite
