| Which Mulch is the Best
Fertilizer? (With Worms) |

Introduction The fertilizer in many gardens are made out of different substances, we are going to figure out which fertilizer will work the best. Mulch is one of the different fertilizers that are used often. In our experiment we are going to compare the different types of mulch that are easy to access to. These include kitchen scraps, coffee grinds and tea leaves, and regular dirt. To compare the different substances is that we need the different substances to decompose. To decompose the elements is that we need worms. Using worms is an easy way to decompose because they break down the dirt and they eat what is bad for the plants. When the worms are done decomposing the mulch then you plant seeds in the mulch. After that you treat every plant the same and we see which one grows the best or which ones don’t even grow. For our hypothesis we believe that the seeds in the kitchen scraps will grow the fastest because the oils, fibers, and other nutrients will help the seed grow. The other fertilizers do not have as much oils and nutrients in them to really help the seeds grow. The seeds will probably still grow in the other fertilizers but probably not as fast and healthy as the kitchen scraps. For our control experiment we are going to pour cups of water. After we pour the cups of water we are going to put 4 different kinds of seeds in it. The kinds of seeds are radish seeds, pea seeds, spinach seeds, and cilantro seeds. We are going to put 10 of each kind of seed in four different cups of water. When we do this experiment we are going to see which seeds grow and which seeds do not. |
